RCMP arrest man with firearm after motor vehicle incident

On Sunday, March 10, 2024, just after 7:00 p.m., Prince George RCMP was called to the intersection of Highway 16 West and Davis Road for a report of a single-vehicle rollover crash. Witnesses reported a man had left the vehicle and walked away with what appeared to be a firearm in his possession.
Police officers attended the location and located 29- year-old Prince George resident, Dezmon Owens, a short distance away. A firearm was found on Mr. Owens, who was determined to be in breach of several police- and court-imposed conditions. Mr. Owens was arrested and held in-custody until he could appear in court,
states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
Mr. Owens will be facing the following charges in court:
- Operate conveyance while prohibited
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to order
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Fail to comply with probation x3
- Fail to comply with undertaking
Mr. Owens will remain in custody until his next court appearance. There were no injuries reported in the incident.
The file remains under investigation.
