File # 2022-33333

Prince George RCMP Frontline Police officers, Street Crew Unit, Police Dog Services Unit and the RCMP Helicopter, Air 3, were in the Hart in the early evening of September 13, 2022, searching for a suspect seen fleeing from a recently stolen vehicle.

Witnesses who recognized the vehicle as one stolen earlier that morning from the Chetwynd area contacted Prince George RCMP when they spotted it near Austin Road and Highway 97. Frontline police officers immediately flooded the area and were alerted by several people nearby that the driver fled on foot across the highway.

Utilizing many of the resources we have in Prince George, such as the RCMP helicopter and our Police Dog Service Unit, investigators continued the search for the suspect. He was located a short distance away, on the 3700-block of Winslow Drive, and police arrested him without incident. Police recovered the stolen vehicle and returned it to its owner, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

Police identified the man as 37-year old Sorrento resident, Blaine Malcolm Douglas. The B.C. Prosecution Service approved the following charge in this matter:

Blaine Malcolm Douglas will remain in the community on a release order until his next court appearance.

The file remains under investigation.
